Youxia‘s first Global Partner Summit kicks off in Shanghai

Shanghai (Gasgoo)-On Sept. 28, Youxia's first Global Partner Summit was held in Shanghai International Convention Center. More than 300 supply-chain companies and financial institutions relevant to the program of Youxia X's mass-production, and the governors from Huzhou and Shanghai also attended the summit. Statistics from China's authorities shows that 2019 will see the explosive growth of the next-generation electric vehicle products, and the era of mature electric vehicle market will come. Facing the mature electric vehicle market, the Youxia X1 will feature a good-looking appearance, high performance, and intelligent functions. The X1 will be the representative product for Youxia's product lineup in the future. Wei Jun said on the summit.
The Youxia X1 will boast a cruise capability of more than 500km, multiple charging modes, premium accelerating performance, a promotion of autonomous driving technology, etc., maximally meeting customers' expectation. The X1 is expected to be launched in 2018. FAW: Volkswagen's and Toyota’s suppliers must cut 20% of prices or they need to exit FAW’s supplier system

Shanghai (Gasgoo)-A deep reform has taken place in inner FAW since Xu Liuping served as the President of FAW Group on Aug. 2.
In recent days, it is reported that Xu Liuping had clearly requested Volkswagen's and Toyota's suppliers to have 20% price reduction for the current supplying products, or they need to exit FAW Group's supplier system, including both self-owned and JV companies. Two of FAW Group's parts suppliers respond to the news, but they said they haven't received any notice about the price-reduction request from FAW.
In 2016, FAW Group sold a total volume of 3,147,000 model units, with an increase of 10.9% year on year. FAW-VW sold 1,315,000 units, FAW-Audi, 589,000 units, and FAW Toyota, 658,000 units. The above statistics shows that the major profits of FAW Group come from its JV brands.
Once the suppliers lose the business of FAW-VW and FAW-Toyota, they may be heavily affected. Therefore, it remains unknown whether the suppliers will accept Xu's request to reduce 20% of their prices. If Xu Liuping can successfully push the suppliers to reduce 20% of the prices, FAW's self-owned cost will be furtherly decreased. The situation of annual loss for FAW Car Co., Ltd. and Tianjin FAW Xiali Automobile Co., Ltd. also can be eased.

CHJ Automotive’s lithium battery plant begins production

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On September 27th, Chinese start-up CHJ Automotive announced in Changzhou that its lithium battery plant began to go into production.  At the initial phase, the battery plant will offer battery systems for its SEV models. It is reported that this battery plant was established to support its parent company CHJ Automotive.
According to the company’s claim, the plant has introduced a lot advanced equipment from America, Japan and Germany and integrated many systems and technologies from MES and Siemens such as PLC modular control system, industrial Ethernet , visual identification system and flexible production line.
The plant can meet over 20 kinds of battery packs' flexible manufacturing demands. The whole plant’s automation rate is 80 percent while that of its modular production line can be up to 100 percent. It can process 200,000 cells per day and 300,000 battery packs per year.
When CHJ Automotive was established, its founder Li Xiang made an initial product planning. It will launch two models at first. One is an electric SEV, a sort of ultra-compact car, for short distance travelling and the other is a seven-seater hybrid SUV for long-distance travelling.
At the end of August, the first electric SEV went off the pilot production line in its Factory One (the first-phase project). It just took 12 months for the first-phase project to finish the plant construction and equipment installation. After pilot production, the factory will test the equipment and begin mass production.
At the same time when the first model went off the line, the start-up held a groundbreaking ceremony for Factory two, which will produce SUV models.

“Le Shi Internet” is Renamed as “New Le Shi”

Shanghai (Gasgoo)-Le Shi Internet Information & Technology Corp. released an announcement last night that, the company held the 48th session of the third board meeting on September 26th, 2017, and the resolution on changing the company’s name and stock short name was passed on the meeting.
According to announcement, the company will be renamed as “New Le Shi Information & Technology Corp., Beijing” with the stock short name as “New Le Shi”. The stock code keeps the same as “300104”. It’s also revealed that the company is renamed to fit with the strategy adjustments in the first half of year.
Previously, Liang Jun once said that “New Le Shi” contains four major businesses including Le Shi Video, Le Shi Super TV, Le Shi Film and Le Shi Cloud. In the meantime, New Le Shi sets its strategy direction as focusing on big-size screen, centralized self-control and open ecosystem. The new Le Shi is positioned as a company providing family Internet entertainment and consumption services. In the meantime, contracts signed by the old Le Shi still keep valid.

BYD to roll out 5 new models in 2018, Tang Plug-in SUV to usher its upgraded version

Shu Youxing, the General Manager of BYD Car Sales Company told that BYD will launch 4 or 5 new models next year, including the BYD Qin and Tang upgraded models with BYD's new iconic dragon-faced design. Alibaba launches AliOS brand with more investment in auto industry

Besides, the company will integrate its YunOS mobile terminal service. YunOS, also called Aliyun OS, is the mobile operating system developed by Alibaba Group.

During the past year, SAIC rolled out several models equipped Alibaba operating system, such as Roewe RX5, Roewe eRX5, Roewe ERX5, MG ZS and SAIC Maxus D90. The cumulative sales of RX5 last year was up to 230,000 units, indicating internet vehicles a new trend in the industry.

China may loosen restrictions on foreign investment in NEV industry

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On Sept. 21st, China’s Ministry of Commerce said it will formulate policy as soon as possible to reduce restrictions on foreign companies’ investment in manufacturing new energy vehicles. The ministry will continually promote the opening up of new energy vehicles’ manufacturing business.
This is an official response to the foreign media’s report that China plans to allow foreign carmakers to set up wholly owned electric-vehicle businesses in its free-trade zones. This policy will be implemented as early as next year and will involve 11 free-trade zones, including Shanghai, Guangdong, Fujian and Zhejiang.
The ministry’s spokesman Gao Feng said China’s new energy vehicle industry has been adhering to the opening up policy. In the Catalogue for the Guidance of Foreign Investment Industries issued in June, the government has loosened the restrictions on the number of foreign carmakers ’electric vehicle joint ventures in China. According to the State Council’s plan, the Ministry of Commerce will work with other departments and introduce new policies to reduce restrictions in foreign companies’ investment in new energy vehicle industry.
Since the beginning of the reform and opening-up policy, the government set the rules that foreign carmakers should establish joint ventures with local brands to run business. If the report is true, that will be a landmark departure.
As the strict dual credits system (CAFC credits and new energy vehicle credits) are about to be released, foreign carmakers has made efforts to meet the standard. Last year, Volkswagen set up a joint plant with Anhui Jianghuai Automobile, followed by Ford with Anhui Zotye and Dongfeng with Renault-Nissan.
It seems good news for Tesla because the electric carmaker has been trying to establish plants in China. As one of the biggest electric vehicle makers in the world, Tesla is also the biggest market share holder among all foreign carmakers in China’s electric vehicle industry.
In 2016, Tesla’s sales in China reached 11,000 units and operating revenue was over 1 billion dollars, which accounted for more than 15 percent of its global operating revenue.
With the production of Model 3, Tesla made an ambitious sales plan, according to which, its global sales should reach 400,000 units in 2018. That is five times of that in 2016. In order to realize its goals, China, the largest new energy vehicle market, is of great importance to the carmaker.

Ankai Automobile Faces High Debts Resulted from Overdependence on Alternative Energy Subsidies

It has a total sales volume of 4,198 units with a year-on-year decline of 2.87%. The sales revenue reaches RMB 2.377b, growing 33.57% compared with the same period of last year. The net loss reaches RMB 28.78m, decreasing 249.89%. Till the end of reporting period, Ankai Automobile has a total asset of RMB 8.99b and debt of RMB 7.57b, with asset-liability ratio reaching 84.19%. It’s revealed by analysts that the high asset-liability ratio may resulted from the alternative energy subsidy receivables, reaching RMB 2.24b till the end of reporting period.
It’s also shown from Ankai Automobile’s financial reports that it has high asset-liability ratios for several consecutive years, with the number reaching 71.2%, 76.7% and 83.8% in the year 2014 to 2016 respectively. It’s analyzed that its limited profitability forces Ankai Automobile to get into debts to ensure enough circulating funds. Besides, Ankai Automobile’s heavy dependence on government’s support also limits its developments.
In fact, Ankai Automobile’s market performance is not satisfactory, implying operation crisis. It’s introduced that Ankai Automobile once tried to make breakthroughs in middle-size buses but failed. Besides, the products are mainly sold in Anhui and Guangdong Province, with narrowing market shares in other areas.

LYNK&CO 02’s Spy Shots are Exposed

FAW is undergoing great personnel reshuffle

Renault’s China-built light commercial vehicle to be rolled out soon

Shanghai (Gasgoo)-On Sept. 25, Carlos Ghosn, Chairman and CEO of Groupe Renault visited Shenyang, Liaoning Province. During his visit, Ghosn also exchanged his idea with Qi Yumin, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Brilliance Auto on accelerating the progress of project development and deepening cooperation of joint venture.
The issue on Renault's China-built light commercial vehicles is undoubtedly Ghosn's major task to visit China this time. "Chinese LCV market has a large scale of 3 million vehicles per year. Taking advantage of Renault's management expertise and know-how on the products and technology, and Brilliance Auto's know-how and influence of the Chinese market, we aim to build a LCV joint venture which will play an important role in China." Carlos Ghosn said on an idea-exchange meeting.
"Brilliance Auto joins hands with Renault to build up an international, market-driven and modern joint venture with a modern enterprise system, establishing a strategic platform to meet future market needs, enabling Jinbei, Huasong and Renault to be improved altogether." said Qi Yumin.
In July, Brilliance Auto signed a binding framework cooperation agreement with Groupe Renault. It is also said that they are likely to sign the agreement officially in December this year. Their cooperation was indicated in the sentences on Brilliance Auto's half-year financial report, for example, CBA teams up with Renault to invest RMB 1.5 billion in next two years. Renault will hold 49% equity of the joint venture, so Brilliance Auto will hold its stake of 51%.

Dongfeng Auto’s Research Fund is up to RMB 76.7b in the past five yea

The phase two project has a total investment of RMB 1.54b with an area of 125,000 square meters, including the product design building phase two and auxiliary projects, trial production workshop phase two project and power plants laboratory, which will provide R&D supports for further developments of self-independent passenger vehicles.
Zhu Yanfeng, Board Chairman and Party Committee Secretary of Dongfeng Auto, inaugurated the No.2 design building, together with Zhu Yongsheng, General Engineer of Dongfeng Fengshen AX7 model.Zhu Yanfeng points out that, it can be predicted that the alternative energy and pilotless era will come in the near future.
In the past five years, Dongfeng Auto invests a total of research fund of RMB 76.7b, and the research fund reaches RMB 19.07b in 2016, accounting for 7.2% of the sales revenue. It has a total sales volume of 384,200 units in commercial vehicles from January to August this year with a year-on-year growth of 25.12%, taking the lead in the industry.
Established on April 1st, 1983, Dongfeng Auto Technical Center is mainly responsible for the R&D of self-independent passenger vehicles, off-road vehicles, alternative energy vehicles and other related work. China will complete vehicle connectivity standard system in 2020

Shanghai (Gasgoo)-On September 25th, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) said the guideline for our country’s vehicle connectivity standard system has been open to public opinions. According to the guideline, China will basically complete building vehicle connectivity standard system in 2020.
MIIT pointed out that it will speed the construction of wireless communication network and key technology standards. This goal will be completed in two phases. By the end of 2018, study on basic technology will be completed. In 2020, the department will finish setting 5G supportive connected vehicle industry standard to further improve information communication safety and data safety standard.
In addition, the guideline also makes plans for relevant electronic products and service. The guideline stipulates that the formulation of in-car electronic products and software standards shall begin before 2018. In 2020, key technology and test standards of in-car electronic products and service platform are expected to be completed.
It is estimated that by 2020, the value of our country’s vehicle connectivity market will be over RMB 50 billion. Certain research suggests roads’ capacity will be improved by 30 percent and the highway’s capacity will be improved by 50 percent. All of these suggest great potential which any company would like to exploit.
And also, some companies try to seize some market shares through crossing the industry boundaries. For example, on September 18, Tencent, an Internet giant, signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Guangzhou Automobile Company. Great Wall’s former design head said to get twice salary in Kia

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On September 8, Great Wall Motor (GWM) announced that its head of design Pierre Leclercq resigned. In that notice, GWM gave gratitude to Leclercq for his contribution to the automaker. It said that Leclercq helped to introduce many wonderful products and laid great foundation for China’s first luxury SUV brand WEY.
Only a week later, Kia Motors said it had named Leclercq as its new head of styling and will be responsible for developing Kia’s long-term design strategy. Before joining GWM, Leclercq has worked in BMW for fourteen years. It is his unique insight into global vehicle design that made Kia believe he will help reinforce Kia’s design identity in the coming years.
As to Leclercq’s departure from GWM and new role in Kia, it is said workers in GWM were surprised and a little angry, but they can’t clarify details. Besides, GWM has said that there won’t be any comment on this issue any more. According to a local media, two reasons may account for Leclercq’s resignation. The first one is that Kia offers a generous salary which is likely twice of what GWM offered. The other is that Leclercq does not like life in Baoding, GWM’s headquater, that much.
During his stay in GWM, Leclercq helped to reshape Haval brand’s SUV products and establish the design DNA across the whole Haval’s series. When GWM was trying to launch the luxury brand WEY, Leclercq was also an important player. Ever since hitting the market, WEY’s VV7 model had a good sales performance. In August, its sales reached 7,197 units. New design and product positioning may explain its popularity.
With Leclercq’s leaving, some questions arose. For example, what kind of effect does his leaving have on the entire designing team? Will GWM be able to continue its design concept? Maybe what GWM need to do is to find an equally qualified designer.

The first Chehejia auto manufacturing base was constructed in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province in August of 2016 with the first period of investment of RMB 2b and an annual capacity of 200,000 units. It established a specialized industrial fund of RMB 4b in February, 2017. In the meantime, the second base was located in Changzhou with a total investment of 3b and an annual capacity of 100,000 units.
It's revealed publicly that Chehejia’s first SEV model was on trial, said by Li Xiang on August 20th of this year. The SEV model rolled off the production line in the first base on August 21th, 2017. The second base also laid foundation on the same day to prepare for the oncoming mass production.
It's said that Chehejia plans to invest RMB 3b to its second base project with planned capacity of 100,000 units, mainly used to produce BEV and electric SUV models. It’s expected that the project will be constructed in 2018. The A3-round financing is planned to raise fund for the R&D of SUV models and its second production base.
Besides, Chehejia signed a strategic agreement with Brilliance Auto on September 1st. The two sides will conduct in-depth cooperation in R&D, supply chain and manufacturing of electric vehicles.

China should be cautious in banning fossil fuel vehicles

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- In order to meet the requirement of China’s dual-credit system, foreign carmakers choose to establish joint ventures with local auto brands. Up to now, three foreign companies have set up joint ventures to promote the production and development of new energy vehicles. They are Volkswagen with Jianghuai, Ford with Zoyte, and Renault-Nissan with Dongfeng. Consequently, there is a speculation that a joint-venture tide will come in the future.Besides, it is reported that China plans to allow foreign carmakers to set up wholly owned electric-vehicle businesses in its free-trade zones.
As to the above comments, Fu Yuwu, SAE-China Chief, said the joint-venture tide is the last thing he wants to see and he will strongly oppose this trend. In Mr. Fu’s opinion, even though our country is the largest new energy vehicle market in the world, the sales of this segment will only be 700,000 at most this year. It is not advisable to let the foreign companies to take away part of it. It is a pity for a market with such an extensive industrial base to be keen on establishing joint ventures. 
“I strongly support the concept of diversification, like international cooperation. But there are many approaches to do this, such as the introduction of advanced technologies, absorption and innovation of technologies, technical cooperation. So why should we set up joint ventures?"
Fu Yuwu was also surprised at the news that our country is mulling over banning production and sales of fossil fuel cars. Fu said the government should take much more cautious attitude towards this issue. “We should handle things in a scientific way and respect market rules and we shouldn’t follow other countries blindly.
China’s auto industry development strategy should be in accordance with the country’s energy strategy and diversification is also the main feature of energy strategy. “If we mistake electrification for new energy, I think the guidance is not complete."
Mr. Fu has his own companions. Xiang xingchu, general manager of Jianghuai Automotive, also opposed the banning. “I think the decision should be made on much more accurate judgment. We should make more assessment.”

Chery will mass produce Level 3 autonomous vehicles in 2019

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- At the Changzhou forum, held by ChinaEV100 on Sept. 24, Huang Yong, executive director of Chery’s intelligent vehicle technology center, introduced Chery’s progress in intelligent vehicle and its plan to mass produce vehicles featuring Level 3 autonomy by the end of 2019.
When talking about Chery’s autonomous driving plans, Huang said the automaker has included the autonomous features into its model planning. According to him, Chery will strive to finish developing the functionality by 2019 or 2020 and plan to mass produce vehicles with Level 3 autonomous features at that time.
Huang also said at the forum the automaker will conduct Level 4 autonomy research at the same time and the mass production of Level 4 system is expected to be realized after 2021.
In connected technology area, Huang said that the EXEED, which is scheduled to hit the market in the end of 2018, will be the carmaker’s first intelligent car model with IQTEC (Lion system). The system is capable of face recognition, intelligent navigation and also can integrate smart home service, internet service and personalized service into the system.
At the 2017 Shanghai Auto Show, Chery and Baidu signed an strategic agreement. Two companies will cooperate in connected vehicles, highly autonomous driving and self-driving system to promote the development of autonomous technology and its commercialization.

BYD is considering supplying battery to rivals

 Shanghai (Gasgoo)-Recently, Wang Chuanfu, chairman of BYD, said in an interview that Daimler and BYD plans to expand their cooperation to introduce more models under the brand of DENZA.
Since the establishment of DENZA, there is only a pure electric model under the brand. Taking the latest DENZA 400 as an example, it is equipped with a 62kWh lithium iron phosphate battery with the maximum range of 352km under the integrated operating condition. The maximum power of the motor it carries is 184 horsepower and the peak torque is 300 Nm. The acceleration time of 0-100km / h is 10.5 seconds.
Because of its low popularity, DENZA does not have any advantage in price. According to the data released by China Association of Automobile Manufacturer, the sales of DENZA in the first eight months of 2017 reached 1,574 units. According to the official announcement released by BYD, revenue of DENZA in last year was 432 million yuan, with a net loss of 1.3 billion yuan. The revenue in the first quarter of this year is 96.37 million yuan, with a net loss of 72.5 million yuan. Total Sales Volume for Tianjin FAW Decreases to 16,000 units from January to August

Changan Mazda New CX-5 Launched

Shanghai, September 13, Gasgoo - Changan Mazda new CX-5 has been officially off the assembly line, and will be launched on September 21. The Yanfeng Automotive Interiors XiM18 makes European premiere at IAA 201

Yanfeng Automotive Interiors (YFAI), the global leader in automotive interior solutions, has unveiled its eXperience in Motion (XiM18) concept car at the IAA International Motor Show. Presented for the first time in Europe, the XiM18 showcases the way people experience vehicle interiors, if they no longer have to drive. It is designed to enable the use of four different interior modes: Drive, Family, Meeting and Lounge, enabling the vehicle to be used in various ways, by multiple people. With this new concept the company supports the next generation of electric and autonomous driving cars.

In times of new forms of car ownership and shared mobility, a unique product look, feel and function through seamless integration of interior surfaces and personalized human-machine-interface is what occupants look for. XiM18 combines a multitude of new technologies for cockpits and instrument panels, as well as advancements in pillar trim, lighting and overhead module integration. In addition, smart solutions for an enhanced user experience with floor consoles and door panels are combined with YFAI’s unique excellence in materials and process innovations. The elegant design of the XiM18 features leather trim, in hues of light blue to medium gray, neatly covering a full piano black surface with copper highlights.

This forward-looking concept integrates many market-ready product innovations, such as smart surfaces and a front and rear floor console that can be combined together, featuring the seamless integration of displays and control functions. XiM18 re-defines interior space configurations

The XiM18 concept features four different interior modes, supporting different driving scenarios from standard driving mode to future-led family mode or functional meeting mode to relaxing lounge, inspired by autonomous driving scenarios. XiM18 exemplifies how future car interiors will put a stronger emphasis on flexible and intelligent floor console and door panel solutions. The key theme of future vehicle interiors in response to autonomous driving is the re-defined interior space and design with modified arrangement of the seating positions. XiM18 is a concept, where the entire interior surface individually interacts with each occupant.
Driving mode is the conventional interior configuration with all seats facing forward. It is enriched by many new comfort and safety functions such as invisible A-pillar, next generation HVAC Slim Air Vents with Gesture Control or smart climate control, slim overhead consoles, moving floor consoles, or convenient soft tambour door storage with finger print lock technology and heated door panel armrest solutions. Innovations such as YFAI’s Start/Stop Overhead Console with PRND controls contribute to enhanced occupant interaction.
Family mode brings people together to better engage and communicate, where the seatback of the front seats rotate inward and the rear floor console moves forward, allowing the rear seats to come together in the center. YFAI’s designers have also come up with many family-friendly features for the interior, including the origami table, instrument panel passenger storage with a tray, new ambient or functional lighting, and plenty of play-and-relax-features like the Interactive Overhead Display Panel. The Overhead Slim Air Vent adds more comfort to the family mode and other layouts.
In Meeting mode the interior serves as an extension of the office, where the driver seat moves to the back of the vehicle, while the passenger seat rotates 180 degrees, allowing occupants to face each other while the rear seats stows away. Adaptive interiors with flexible floor consoles, personal electronics management and convenient working table solutions support the working environment inside the vehicle. Lounge mode is a transformational space helping transition from working to socializing. With the front seats moved to the rear-most position, this environment offers passengers the option to relax or work while the vehicle drives autonomously. As YFAI excels in materials and surface innovations, instrument panels and door panels will visibly benefit from technology advancements like the direct back-foaming of leather or the CHyM Eco-Lite technology which is not only integrated in the door panels but also for the first time applicable for instrument panel production. A key enabler for effective lounge mode layout applications are YFAI’s unique separated floor console – a front and rear floor console that can be combined, features the seamless integration of displays and control functions.
YFAI’s smart interior surfaces have been inspired by the increased technology and information needs in vehicle interiors. “Interior surfaces have always had a great look and feel,” added Hendriks. ”However, we will increasingly integrate functionality that creates a better life on board,” said Han Hendriks. “We‘re seamlessly integrating information and areas for controls, ambient and task lighting, heated surfaces and more.
